The Colorado Avalanche got another clutch goal from JT Compher.
The forward came flying out of the sin bin after serving a penalty to win a chip behind the Oilers defense. Compher put a soft shot on net that got through Mike Smith.
Compher’s goal broke the tie and came with just over seven minutes left, and just a little while after Colorado gave away a 2-1 lead, earlier in the period.

The Avs won 4-2, getting an empty-netter. It was Compher’s fifth goal of the playoffs.
Teams that go up 3-0 are 198-4 in NHL history. Only one MLB club (2004 Red Sox) and no NBA team has come back from that. Up 2-1 in a series is just 373-164, that’s a dirrence in winning percentages of 98% to 69.5%. So Compher’s late-game score was huge.
