The likely back-to-back NBA MVP turned some eyes after his team was bounced from the first round of playoffs on Wednesday night.
Nikola Jokic said postgame that he would sign a super-max contract extension if the Nuggets offered it to him. Denver can offer it to him this offseason and will be worth between $253 million and $270 million over five years.
“I would like it, of course, but it’s not something that I’m deciding,” Jokic said after the game five loss where he went for 30 points, 19 rebounds and eight assists. “I think, of course, if it’s out there, or if an offer is on the table. Of course, I’m going to accept it because I really like the organization. I really like the people who work here. I’m very in a really good relationship with everybody. We have something that we’re building in. It actually feels very good.”
Jokic won the 2020-21 NBA MVP is the favorite to take home the trophy again for this season after improving across the board. The sweet-footed-Serbian avarged 27.1 points per game, 13.8 rebounds a night with 7.9 helpers a contest.
Even more impressive form the Nuggets big man was him carrying the team to the postseason despite missing Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr.
“We don’t know what we can do because we were not healthy but yes, do we have some talent? Yes. And can we do something,” he said. “I think we have talent, we have players, we have pieces, we have tools. And the only thing is if that’s going to work together, so that’s the only question. You cannot know that until you start playing.”
The Nikola Jokic super max extension in 2022 is projected to be the largest contract in NBA history.

Any thoughts of other NBA fans getting Joker out of Denver and forming a new superteam around him? Joker laughs at that.
“You can see through the league. Teams are making super teams and they’re not making any success,” he said.
