The Broncos continue to spend in free agency. And it continues to be on the defensive side of the ball.
First, Denver added D.J. Jones to their defensive line. Then, they inked Randy Gregory to be their primary edge rusher.
On Tuesday, George Paton continued the trend. This time around, the Broncos general manager retained one of his own, re-signing linebacker Josey Jewell.

Jewell has spent his entire four-year career in Denver. A fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the linebacker has started 30 games and appeared in 49 during his stint with the Broncos.
Last year, Jewell was off to a hot start, recording four tackles, a forced fumble and a pass defensed in the season opener. But his campaign was cut short when he suffered a torn pectoral muscle in Week 2 at Jacksonville.
Now, Jewell gets a chance to build upon his early 2021 success. He’s expected to be a cornerstone in Ejiro Evero’s defense.
It's a 2-yr, $11M deal for Jewell, per sources. Chance to make up to $12. More than once, I heard a Broncos coach/exec refer to Jewell as "the glue" to Denver defense. Sorely missed last year. Considering torn pec in first half of game 2 last year, it's a good deal. #9sports https://t.co/466Dc7bv1e

The Broncos had a laundry list of needs on defense this offseason. In two days, they’ve already filled three of them.
