Another day, another report says decision soon from Rodgers

It’s starting to feel like Groundhog Day.
Two weeks ago, Aaron Rodgers won another NFL MVP award and followed that up with a cryptic Instagram post about his future. On Monday night, he dipped into that well again, this time discussing “Monday Night Gratitude,” his relationship with Shailene Woodley and shouting out many Packers teammates.
Both these posts led to rampant speculation about Rodgers’ future, fueled by the QB himself saying a decision would be coming “pretty quick” after accepting his fourth MVP award.
But then on Tuesday Rodgers went on the Pat McAfee Show for 41 minutes all to announce he hasn’t yet made a decision. Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst confirmed as much on Wednesday, and also said he never promised Rodgers a trade after the 2021 season if he returned to Green Bay, which of course he did and won another MVP.
Is your head spinning yet?
The Rodgers news cycle seemingly never stops, and early Thursday morning ESPN’s Dianna Russini said Rodgers will be “informing the Packers of his decision soon.”
Aaron Rodgers will be informing the Packers of his decision soon, per league sources. I’m told there are multiple teams with offers on the table but of course, nothing can happen until the Green Bay Packers allow a trade.

Russini is a solid reporter with a great track record, but is her report really anything new? Or have we just become so obsessed with the Rodgers news cycle that every day we crave an update that is essentially the same?
That also begs the question, who is Russini’s source and what’s their motive behind Thursday’s report? The cynic in me thinks it’s Rodgers or someone extremely close to him. The longer this goes on, the more it’s apparent Rodgers simply craves attention at every turn. His mind might even be made up, but another few days of sending the Internet into a frenzy is good with him.
At best this makes him “brand conscious” by trying to keep his name in the news, at worst it makes him a narcissist.
All of this will be a moot point should Denver land Rodgers in a trade. I, and a large percentage of Broncos Country, would be willing to put all of Rodgers’ quirky personality traits aside to land him as the team’s next QB. Another surefire Hall of Famer under center? Count me in.
But if Rodgers retires or returns to Green Bay, this whole saga will feel like a massive waste of time. Rodgers won’t become the villain in Denver that Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes is, but Broncos Country certainly wont be rooting for him in whatever is next.
