The latest, and final, mock draft from NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks has the Denver Broncos adding yet another piece to what looks to be a stout secondary on paper.
With the ninth pick in the mock draft, Brooks has Denver selecting cornerback Jaycee Horn out of South Carolina, passing up on quarterbacks Justin Fields and Mac Jones.
“Vic Fangio knows the Broncos need a talented secondary to contain the high-powered offenses within the division. Horn is the best pure man-to-man cover corner in the draft,” writes Brooks.
Horn, the son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn, would be the latest in a string of additions to the Broncos cornerback room, including veterans Kyle Fuller and Ronald Darby — both who signed with Denver this offseason.
However, last week Broncos general manager George Paton touted that bringing in Fuller and Darby frees up Denver with the ninth-overall pick so that the team doesn’t have to take a cornerback at that point in the draft.
“Now we don’t have to force it in the draft, and we don’t have to reach. We don’t have to take a corner,” Paton said. “We have Darby, we have Fuller and we have some young guys. That was really big for us.”
