Schlereth: Broncos don’t have ‘enough talent’ to make run at Foles

With the Philadelphia Eagles stating definitively on Monday they’d be sticking with Carson Wentz at quarterback, Nick Foles’ time with the club likely is over.
So, with the quarterback likely to be a hot commodity this offseason, should the Denver Broncos throw their hat into the ring to snatch up the reigning Super Bowl MVP?
Hold your horses, said Mark Schlereth on Tuesday.
“I just don’t know that you have enough talent,” said the “Schlereth and Evans” host, referring to the Broncos.
Schlereth said that he believes Foles, much like Case Keenum, is just another average quarterback without enough talent around him.
“He’s not going to be the guy you’ve seen the past couple of years …” Schlereth said.
If the Broncos were just a quarterback away from competing, Schlereth said, then “Nick Foles would make sense.”
“But I just don’t think that’s where you’re at as a franchise,” Schlereth said.
In 12 games (eight starts) over the past two seasons for the Eagles, Foles has put up impressive statistics, throwing for 16-game average of 2,600 yards and 16 touchdowns with just eight interceptions and a completion percentage of 66.9.
The Eagles under Foles in 2017 and 2018 went 6-2 and earned a victory in Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots.
During his previous five NFL seasons — including stings with the Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams, and the Eagles — Foles had a 16-game average of 3,510 yards passing, 11.2 touchdowns, and 5.4 touchdowns with a 60.4 completion percentage.
In that span, Foles started 36 games and earned a record of 20-16.
