Schlereth: How Broncos responded to Von Miller comments important

Oct 19, 2018, 1:09 PM

On an individual level, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller walked the walk Thursday night.

The prolific pass rusher had two sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery after saying his Broncos were going to kick the asses of the Arizona Cardinals this week on the road.

“Von Miller came out and he backed up what he said. He came out last week and he said, dude, we’re going to Arizona and we’re going to open a can on the Arizona Cardinals. We’re going to whip that ass,” said Mark Schlereth on Friday.

But perhaps the bigger takeaway from the 45-10 drubbing of the Cardinals, said the “Schlereth and Evans” co-host, is how Miller’s teammates responded to his comments.

“… He went out and he backed it up. But more importantly, his whole team came up and backed it up,” Schlereth said. “And this is the kind of catalytic event that can lead your team to great things.”

“Pritchard and Cecil” co-host Cecil Lammey had a similar take to Schlereth’s on Friday as well, saying that how Miller’s teammates responded was his biggest takeaway from the game.

“This team responded, and you all should be excited about that,” Lammey said. “Broncos, take this moment and get it done, and don’t get cocky.”

After the game, head coach Vance Joseph it was an “important” win for the football team while wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders called it something the team can use as a launching point.

“It’s one of those situations that, yeah, we can build off of this,” Sanders said.
