Pritchard & Cecil – 05/09/2018 – Pritchard & Cecil live in studio. Wednesday’s show the guys talk about which member of the Broncos has the most pressure on them heading into the season, which rookies will make the biggest impact this year and some thoughts on the Broncos defense and safety Darian Stewart.
Hour one Pritchard & Cecil weigh in on the Broncos quarterback position. Cecil is sick of people not giving Case Keanum a chance. He is not a “better version” of Trevor Siemian. Cecil explains why in his Fresh Take. Pritch has backed Keenum since day one, is Cecil finally coming around? The guys talk about Keenum’s upcoming season with a new team and what to expect from the Broncos offense in 2018. Plus, how can this rookie class step up for the Broncos? Who are the rookies they should depend on most? Is going younger the best way to build a team? Pritchard & Cecil look at the rookies and what are reasonable exceptions for this season.
Plus, Broncos safety Darian Stewart has been out spoken about this defense. Is this the guy to step up in more of a leadership role? Will the young guys respond well to Stewart? The guys talk about why Stewart would make these comments and why expectations might be getting raised.
Hour two Pritchard & Cecil talk about which Broncos rookies might make the NFL’s All-Rookie list this season. Mike Pritchard breaks down why Bradley Chubb has a great shot to the make the All-Rookie team. The guys also look at some of the other rookies such as linebacker Josey Jewell and what their prospects look like heading into the new season. The guys then transition into a discussion about some mistakes the Broncos have made in the past with other younger players. Cecil Lammey uses the example of Johnathan Williams who now is most likely a starter on the Saints in light of the Mark Ingram suspension coming down yesterday. The guys break down where the blame should go with the Broncos not seeing Williams talent.
Also, the guys talk about what we must see out of certain rookies this week during Broncos rookie mini camp. The guys get into if we need to see anything from Broncos first round pick Bradley Chubb this week. The guys get into what they think we need to see from certain rookies.
Hour three Pritchard & Cecil talk about the national narrative on the Broncos where the latest ESPN rankings have the Broncos ranked. The guys get into why the Broncos should maybe be ranked a little higher but that this also puts more of a chip on certain players shoulders. The fellas break down how the Broncos can exceed national expectations this year. Pritchard & Cecil then discuss which players or front office members now have the most pressure on them heading into the new season. Cecil Lammey first breaks down why he thinks the person with the most pressure heading into the season is GM John Elway. Pritch agrees with the pressure that will be on Elway but Mike Pritchard also believes that quarterback Paxton Lynch has the most pressure heading into the season.
