Nuggets start free agency by keeping the band together

Aug 2, 2021, 4:52 PM | Updated: 4:55 pm

The Denver Nuggets started free agency with a bang after finalizing deals with Will Barton and JaMychal Green.

Barton is re-signing with the team on a two-year, $32 million deal. He declined his player option earlier in July with the hopes of returning to Denver.

During the 2020 season Barton averaged 12.7 points and shot a career-high 38.1% from beyond the arc.

Green is returning to the Nuggets on a two-year deal worth $17 million. The agreement also includes a player option for the 2022-23 season.

He joined the Nuggets as a free agent in 2020 on a two-year, $15 million deal. He declined his option for the 2021-22 season just a few weeks ago.

Through 58 games with the Nuggets, Green averaged 8.1 points per game and and 4.8 rebounds.

Hopefully bringing the band back together will get the Nuggets farther down the road in the playoffs. Denver was recently swept by the Phoenix Suns in the second round.
