Pritchard & Cecil – 04/24/2018 – Pritchard & Cecil live in studio. Tuesday’s show Pritchard & Cecil talk about which teams the Broncos might be able to make a draft day deal with, running back prospects outside of Saquon Barkley and some other draft strategy heading into the draft in just two days.
Hour one Pritchard & Cecil talk about the running back position for the Broncos. When is a good time to take a running back in this draft? John Elway talked about it at his recent presser. The guys react to his thoughts on the running back position and get into when they feel is the best time to take a running back in the draft. Pritchard & Cecil also talk about which running back prospects would make the most sense for the Broncos in 2018. The guys talk about that and some other draft prospects in the first round.
Plus, Is John Elway’s legacy on the line for this draft? Pritch thinks the second round could be more important than the first round for Elway. Mike Pritchard explains his reasoning behind this thought and why Elway must hit on a generational talent in the draft. The guys talk about that and more as Elway and the Broncos prepare for yet another draft.
Hour two Pritchard & Cecil talk about possible trade partners if the Broncos are looking to move up or down in the draft. The guys go through their short list of teams that they could see being willing to trade with the Broncos in the first round of the draft. The fellas also look at teams that might want to move up into the top ten or top five and how those teams would impact the Broncos draft plans in 2018. The guys look at some running backs as well in the draft and look at some historical comparisons for the Broncos when they drafted running backs in the past. The fellas break that down and look at which round the Broncos should think of draft a quarterback.
Also, the guys talk about why Schlereth & Evans are wrong with one of their drat strategy suggestions. Mike Pritchard explains why the Broncos shouldn’t do what the morning show is suggesting they do in the draft this year.
Hour three Pritchard & Cecil talk about the debate of drafting an actual football player vs. drafting an athlete. The guys break down the difference between the two and the difficulty of trying to find guys that can be successful football players in the draft and not just a great athlete. Mike Pritchard draws from his experience and teammates he played with that were football players but also great athletes. The fellas then jump into if the Broncos are on the same page heading into the draft. Pritchard & Cecil give their thoughts on if head coach Vance Joseph and Broncos GM John Elway are on the same page heading into the first round of the draft Thursday night. The guys talk about why it’s so important for the front office and head coach to be on the same page.
For the rest of hour three Pritchard & Cecil get into some quarterback discussion as Mike Pritchard feels that quarterback Josh Allen’s accuracy issues have been overblown heading into the draft. The guys also talk about some other stories from around the NFL as the league prepares for the draft in just two days.
