Schlereth: Foles a viable option for Broncos, but is Denver for him?

After Nick Foles outdueled Tom Brady and the New England Patriots on the way to Super Bowl MVP honors and the Philadelphia Eagles first championship since 1960, many a Denver Broncos fan suggested bringing him in at quarterback for next season.
“I got a lot of people, a lot of pushback, (saying), ‘Let’s get Nick Foles. Nick Foles should be the guy. Nick Foles should be our next quarterback,’” Mark Schlereth said on Monday. “Hey, that’d be great people. That would be great.”
The “Schlereth and Evans” co-host said Foles would “absolutely” be a viable candidate to take snaps for the Broncos. But Denver being a viable option for him to actually land his offseason is another story.
“I don’t think he’ll become available,” Schlereth said. “Would he become a viable option? Absolutely.”
Schlereth pointed to Foles actually being under contract with the Eagles, unlike potential free agent target Kirk Cousins, and chances of Philadelphia parting with him when they need a backup plan for starter Carson Wentz, who’s recovering from a torn ACL, is unlikely.
“How likely are they to let go of their backup quarterback, a guy that just took them to a Super Bowl and won a Super Bowl MVP? Not very likely,” Schlereth said.
And does Denver have the coaching staff and personnel to properly utilize Foles’ skill set, Schlereth questioned.
“The Philadelphia Eagles are loaded talent-wise. Their offensive line is way better than anything we have offensive line-wise, their running backs are way better than anything we have in our backfield, and their tight ends are great,” Schlereth said. “They’ve got all those elements, the elements that we talk about on a day-to-day basis there aren’t good enough here in Denver.
“So, how successful do you think Nick Foles really would be if he got signed in Denver and got an opportunity to put on that Broncos jersey?”
