Still no decision on Broncos QB position heading into weekend

As the Denver Broncos head into the weekend of Week 16, the team has not yet made a decision on who’ll be under center Sunday against the Washington Redskins.
Head coach Vance Joseph indicated second-year quarterback Paxton Lynch would be “questionable” to play Sunday with an ankle injury but said he would not confirm that means Brock Osweiler will get the nod against the Redskins.
“I’m not confirming that yet,” Joseph said. “We had a good day today. I think Paxton’s about 90 percent. He’s practiced all week, so we’ll see. But we’re close. Obviously, we’re close now.”
Joseph said a decision would likely be made after meetings on Friday ahead of the team’s trip to the East Coast, judging on how both Osweiler and Lynch have looked.
Lynch suffered a high ankle sprain in his only start this season in Week 12 against the Oakland Raiders and has been nursing the injury since. And because of his mobile abilities, Joseph said the extent to which he’s recovered from the injury is a consideration into if Lynch will start.
“Part of his game is his legs, so we don’t want to put him out there if he can’t use one of his best attributes,” Joseph said. “So, obviously, that’s being considered.”
Either Osweiler or Lynch, the Broncos will sport a new signal caller against Washington after last week’s starter Trevor Siemian went down with a partially dislocated non-throwing shoulder against the Indianapolis Colts.
In relief, Osweiler threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns on 12-of-17 passing, adding a rushing touchdown in the come-from-behind win over the Colts.
