Broncos LB Miller No. 2 on NFL Network ‘Top 100,’ tops DPOY Mack

In February, it was Oakland Raiders pass-rusher Khalil Mack who beat out his Denver Broncos counterpart Von Miller for NFL Defensive Player of the Year by just one vote.

But Miller got the best of Mack on Monday, not only surpassing his AFC West foe on the NFL Network’s “Top 100 Players of 2017” list but all defenders league-wide.

Miller landed in the No. 2 slot of the annual peer rankings, behind only Super Bowl LI MVP Tom Brady, and three spots ahead of Mack at No. 5.

Top 10 of the NFL’s “Top 100” (full list):

  1. Tom Brady, quarterback, New England Patriots
  2. Von Miller, linebacker, Denver Broncos
  3. Julio Jones, wide receiver, Atlanta Falcons
  4. Antonio Brown, wide receiver, Pittsburgh Steelers
  5. Khalil Mack, linebacker, Oakland Raiders
  6. Aaron Rodgers, quarterback, Green Bay Packers
  7. Ezekiel Elliott, running back, Dallas Cowboys
  8. Odell Beckham Jr, wide receiver, New York Giants
  9. Le’Veon Bell, running back, Pittsburgh Steelers
  10. Matt Ryan, quarterback, Atlanta Falcons

It’s Miller’s first time cracking the top five and his second time making the top 10. He came in ninth in 2013.

It’s a 13 position jump up for the three-time first-team All-Pro, who ranked No. 15 in 2016.

Only two fellow Broncos, cornerbacks Aqib Talib (37) and Chris Harris Jr (63) graced the list in 2017, the second-fewest players from the team since the program’s first season in 2011. That year, only cornerback Champ Baily (48) and wide receiver Brandon Lloyd (58) made the list.
