UPDATE: A day after being waived by the Denver Broncos, and two days after taking Paxton Lynch to the house for a pick-six and then being immediately burned for another touchdown the following play, Taurean Nixon has found a new NFL home.
The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed Nixon, a 2015 seventh-round draft pick out of Tulane, on Thursday, according to Pro Football Talk.
To make room for the cornerback, the Jaguars released one of its own, Jeremy Cutrer.
ORIGINAL: One moment, you’re taking back a pick-six on the first day of Denver Broncos mandatory minicamp, the next you’re getting burned. Then cut.
The Broncos announced Wednesday morning that the club waived cornerback Taurean Nixon, just a day removed from taking a Paxton Lynch interception to the house, in favor of sixth-year pro Chris Lewis-Harris.
Lynch and wide receiver Cody Latimer burned Nixon on the very next play for a long touchdown pass.
Lewis-Harris, signed by the Bengals in 2012 as a college free agent, spent four full seasons in Cincinnati and split time last year with the Baltimore Ravens as well.
In 2016, Lewis-Harris played in seven games between the two AFC North foes, racking up five tackles, two passes defensed and one interception.
Denver drafted Nixon in the seventh round of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Tulane, and the cornerback would spend much of his rookie season on the Broncos practice squad.
Nixon played in just two games for the Broncos in 2016, grabbing just one solo tackle.
