Exactly a week from Monday, the Denver Broncos will begin its offseason workout program, the team announced.
Though Denver could have, by virtue of hiring a new head coach, started its offseason program Monday, the club will still have a week’s head start on all teams with returning head coaches when they hit the field April 10.
The voluntary program will carry on nine weeks, through the only mandatory minicamp from June 13-15.
• First day: April 10
• Voluntary minicamp: April 25-27
• Rookie orientation: May 11-13
• OTA offseason workouts: May 23-25, May 30-31, June 1, June 5-8
• Mandatory minicamp: June 13-15
Each NFL team goes through three phases of workouts, per the league’s collective bargaining agreement with the NFL Players Association.
In Phase 1, which runs two weeks, clubs can only have contact with players in the area of rehabilitation and/or strength and conditioning.
Offense vs. defense drills and live-contact is prohibited in Phase 2, which will run the following three weeks.
At Phase 3, teams can have 10 days of organized team activities that include 7-on-7, 9-on-9, and 11-on-11 drills, though contact is still forbidden.
The Broncos will conduct it’s rookie minicamp from May 11 to 13, just after the NFL Draft at the end of this month.
