Playoff window narrows with Broncos road loss to Titans

The Denver Broncos path to the postseason still rests in its owns hands. It’s just now a lot more daunting.
On the road Sunday in Nashville, the Broncos dropped another close, crucial game with a 13-10 loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans.
And the defeat comes just two weeks after a 30-27 overtime loss at home to the Kansas City Chiefs, a team Denver now trails by two games in the AFC West with three remaining.
Win those two games, and the Broncos further solidify a playoff slot — and perhaps a sixth-straight division title.
But now with games against the 10-3 Chiefs, the 10-3 Oakland Raiders, and next week against the New England Patriots (10-2 ahead of their Monday Night Football tilt with the Baltimore Ravens), the climb is starting to look significantly steeper.
“I just told them I know, from the outside looking in, a lot of people are going to say it doesn’t look good,” head coach Gary Kubiak said after the game. “I’ve been part of a hell of a lot worse and come out of it. We’re going to keep battling. I’m a battler. Those guys in the locker room are battlers.”
As of Sunday night, the Broncos control the No. 6 see in the AFC playoffs, ahead of the Miami Dolphins at 8-5 and the Ravens at 7-5.
Therefore, it’s likely Denver will need to win at least two of three games, if not run the table, to earn a playoff berth, a challenge linebacker DeMarcus Ware said he believes his team is up for.
“The schedule is nasty, but we can win those games. I feel like everybody has to be on the same accord and have that mentality of do or die,” Ware said after the game. “That’s what we were talking about at the end in the meeting, and that’s the mentality everybody’s taking.”
