Broncos Harris: Titans WR ‘tried to end my career,’ ‘should be fined’

Much like in the melee on the field during the second corner of Denver’s loss to Tennessee, Chris Harris’ Broncos teammates had his back in the Nissan Stadium visitor’s locker room Sunday.
Cries of “dirty” and threats of retribution could be heard after the game regarding a second quarter chop block by Harry Douglas that left Harris hobbled and fuming.
“That was so illegal. I have never had a player try to end my career like that. That was dirty and he should be fined,” Harris said after the game. “That’s not football. He tried to take me out for the game and tried to end my career, that’s not football.”

Harris, who suffered an ACL tear in his left knee in 2013, would return to the game sore but “OK.”
“There’s a difference between being dirty and doing dirty things and trying to take somebody’s career away from them, try to take their livelihood. This is how Chris feeds his kids. You can’t go out here and try to take that away from somebody,” said defensive end Derek Wolfe after the game.
The following play, Harris’ fellow cornerback, and college teammate at Kansas, Aqib Talib sparked a sideline brawl that would land him a personal foul but not an ejection.
In the locker room, Talib strongly voiced his displeasure with Douglas.
“It was a dirty play by a sorry player,” Talib said. “… He got the same agent as me, so when I see his (expletive) in Atlanta, I’m going to be his (expletive).”

After the game, Douglas defended the play, which was at least on the field ruled a legal block, saying he was “just playing football.”
“First of all, that’s a clean play. It was a run play with me and him looking at each other, and I cut blocked him. Like I told them, if they watch film, which they’re supposed to do in the NFL, you would know I can cut block in the run game and that’s a legal play,” Douglas said. “I guess he didn’t watch film because if he watched me last week or any other game he would see that’s what I do in the run game.”
Harris said of the melee that it meant a lot to him that his whole team had his back.
“Our defense is a close-knit group. We have each other’s back,” said linebacker Shane Ray after the game. “When one of our leaders goes down in that kind of fashion, I mean, you’re poking at a pack of wolves. You feel me? So, the reaction that they got is what they deserved.”
