More than just a divisional win or loss will be on the line Thursday night in San Diego when the Denver Broncos take on the Chargers.
Yes, this week’s tilt will give some insight into how the Broncos rebound from a tough home loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Yes, we’ll see how Denver looks with some key players coming back healthy.
But most importantly, our own 104.3 The Fan Football Insider Cecil Lammey’s pride, and a little dignity, is on the line.
Filling in for C.J. Wednesday on “C.J. and Stokley,” Cecil and co-host Brandon Stokley came to a “gentlemen’s agreement” on Thursday’s game, specifically how Trevor Siemian performs (should he start coming back from injury.)
What Siemian needs to do: Throw for 275 yards or more, with three touchdowns and no interceptions.
On the line: Cecil will buy, and wear, a No. 13 Siemian jersey t-shirt and stand out on the street near The Fan’s DTC studios with a sign reading, “ Honk if you heart Siemian like me.”
“So you and C.J., during your show, I’m going to be out there. I’m going to have people honking. I’m going to be standing on the corner. Honk if you heart Siemian,” Cecil said.
“I’m going to have the sign. You’re going to be able to see me right down there.”
Said Stokley: “I love it. I can’t wait.”
For reference, in four career games, Siemian’s throw for an average of 206 yards per game with six total touchdowns and three total interceptions.
Only once has the second-year quarterback thrown for more than 275 yards in a game, 312 yards in Week 3 this year against the Cincinnati Bengals.
On the opposite side of the ball, the Chargers have allowed the fifth-most yards through the air in the NFL in 2016 (1,457) and the eighth-most touchdowns (9).
