DMac thanks Al for the kind words about him in an article, and the guys talk about owning cats & dogs. DMac gets some fan reaction on the news about losing veteran T.J. Ward, and Al says he loves the way T.J. plays. DMac remembers Montee Ball, and Al says nobody knew about his demons. Any kind of injury can have you out of the NFL in no time, as the guys warn T.J. Ward, and DMac says if Ward was a New England Patriot, he would have been cut in the Spring. Also, callers remind the guys of T.J. Ward’s beef with Gronk. Al says when it’s your turn to sign a contract, a player must get maximum value, and T.J. Ward is no different. Kyrie says goodbye to Cleveland, and DMac tells Al that Irving will still be hated for years. Also, DMac asks Al what Kyle Sloter must do to wrap up the QB2 job for multiple weeks, and nearly guarantees a game ball for Sloter on offense. Patrick Saunders joins the show to say this Rockies team is in trouble, and it’s crunch-time for them. Patrick says the offense everyone thought they could lean on has let them down, and pitching has not been the issue. Young Kyle Freeland & German Marquez have been outstanding, and Bud Black gets snippy when Patrick asks him about moving Charlie Blackmon back in the lineup to drive in runs. Also, why CarGo’s struggles are the heart of the Rockies problems in ’17. Listen to the interview HERE!
Bertrand Berry joins the show to say before Denver, he was on the street, and that’s why Denver will always feel like home. Berry tells Al it’s empowering getting the opportunity to make the team via standout preseason play. DMac asks Bertrand about positions that will be fought for tonight, and Big Al asks Bertrand about the Hall of Fame chances for Carson Palmer & Larry Fitzgerald. Listen to the interview HERE! DMac presents: The wild & crazy story of Kyle Sloter & his breaks, triumph & tragedy along the way. Cecil Lammey joins the show to say expect a strong performance from Kyle Sloter tonight, and expect the unexpected when it comes to final cuts down to the 53-man roster. Big Al asks Cecil if a situation similar to Sam Bradford’s in Minnesota could happen here in Denver in ’17, and Cecil tells him the Broncos should be willing to do anything to find their guy at QB1. Listen to the interview HERE! Also, Make your money for as long as you can, then go home is what Big Al says. Brandon Marshall speaks out on T.J. Ward playing out his contract with the Broncos.
The guys hear highlights from the biggest plays of Denver Broncos Preseason ’17, and Big Al thinks tonight against the Cardinals should be good television. Contracts are not player-friendly, and Al wishes there was a world in which players could all sign one-year deals. Big Al talks about contracts the players will never see, and thinks it’s stupid for a player to sign a deal that’s five years or longer. The longer contracts are to help the team in the first few years of the deal, and Al says the league is disrespecting the players in their final seasons. Al & DMac debate how long it should take to make a billion dollars. DMac says the popularity is still up despite the effort being down, and Al hints at the numbers of viewers & consumers going down. Big Al wants to know if this was a regular-season game, if the Texans game would have been canceled or not, and DMac says the game definitely would have been played. Al is sure they should have played the game. Also, The guys debate if any regular season NFL games have been canceled.
Mark Schlereth joins the show with what he’s rooting for in tonight’s game, and Big Al asks Stink if Shelby Harris can continue to make standout plays to stay on the Broncos’ roster. Schlereth says he’s found out that guys who can flash against backups can typically flash against the starters as well, and he’s seen a few Broncos players throughout the preseason that can do just that. Listen to the interview HERE! Troy Renck joins the show to say it’s going to be hard for Schofield to make the team after the roster crunch, and the Broncos are loving the depth their offensive line has gained. Renck says the Broncos are checking the waiver-wire for a quarterback & an outside linebacker for depth purposes. Renck says tonight is huge for guys like Kalif Raymond & Kyle Sloter, and they may not get another opportunity like this. Listen to the interview HERE! Also, Mike Pritchard jumps on to talk about what he’s looking for tonight out of the Broncos second and third stringers.
