Sandy and Stokley – 05/19/2016 – C.J. and Mike Klis filled in for Sandy Clough and Brandon Stokley. The guys talk about Broncos wide receiver Emanuel Sanders being named as #74 on the NFL’s Top 100 list and discuss how big his next contract could be. Plus, some Broncos situational football discussion from last year/this upcoming season and NBA playoff talk as the Warriors beat the Thunder in game 2 of the Western Conference Finals last night. Marc Spears from ESPN joins the show in the second hour of the show and ESPN MLB Insider Pedro Gomez will talk Rockies in the third hour.
Hour 1 C.J. and Mike Klis talk about Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders being named to the NFL’s Top 100 list. Sanders was voted on and listed as number 74 in the top 100. The guys talk about if that’s a fair ranking for Emmanuel Sanders. C.J. and Mike discuss his time in Denver so far. Mike Klis poses the question about Sanders needing a new contract soon and how much Sanders might be worth to the Broncos and how much he could get on an open market.
C.J. and Mike wrapped up the first hour discussing quarterback ratings from last year in the NFL. C.J. lists off some of the top rated quarterbacks last year and almost none of the top listed players had any winning success. C.J. then looks at where Peyton Manning ended up on the list, which is near the back. The guys look at how Manning wasn’t very Manning like as far as being accurate but he was a good situational quarterback. C.J. says throw quarterback ratings out the window for the most part. Mark Sanchez is brought up in the conversation, does he need to just be a good situational quarterback for Denver?
Hour two kicks off with C.K. and Mike Klis talking about Alabama and other university’s offering an 8th grader a scholarship. C.J. and Mike both debate how it’s wrong for the NCAA to allow this and how it needs to be changed.
More college football discussion as quarterback Davis Webb has decided to transfer to Cal instead of CU. Webb had verbally committed to CU but yesterday instead decided to go play for Cal. Mike Klis analyzes how CU is trying to get better and gain more speed year by year.
Marc Spears from ESPN joined C.J. and Mike Klis to talk about the NBA playoffs. The Warriors beat the Thunder last night to even the series at one game a piece. C.J. believes Kevin Durant needs to prove his superstar worth. Marc explains where Durant is in his playing career and how KD and Russell Westbrook can’t carry the Thunder to a series win over the Warriors. Marc discusses how the game is different now in the NBA. Finally, Marc talks about Kris Dunn from Providence and if he will be on the board for the Nuggets in the draft. Hour three gets started with some Pro Football Hall of Fame talk. Mike Klis looks at some Broncos that could get into the Hall of Fame in the upcoming year or so. Some of those names include John Lynch, Terrell Davis, Randy Gradishar and Pat Bowlen. The guys look at some current Broncos specifically on defense might be in the Hall of Fame someday. DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller if he continues to play well and Aqib Talib are all mentioned as current players.
ESPN MLB Insider Pedro Gomez joined C.J. and Mike Klis to discuss some Rockies baseball. Pedro weighs in on why the Rockies are still playing so well right now. Pedro points to the Rockies starting pitching staff as well as the teams bullpen as the reason why their still in it. Pedro also talks about MLB suspending Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor as well as Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista. Were the suspension amounts fair? Pedro goes over that and more. At the end of the show the fellas talked some more Rockies baseball as well as who the biggest stars in town are. C.J. and Mike agree that Broncos linebacker Von Miller is number one followed by Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado.
