The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Adam Schefter tells Big Al & DMac it was so good spending time with Al & to see so many great people affiliated with the franchise at the time of TD’s peak. Cecil Lammey is quick to tell the guys the kid’s not ready, and Paxton needs to avoid the unforgivable. Also, Big Al calls Kyle Sloter a better QB than Paxton Lynch, and Jay Cutler lands in Miami to be reunited with Adam Gase.
The guys talk TD & his HOF party, John Elway, Bill Romanowski & Shannon Sharpe were there, no Tom Nalen at Terrell’s speech however. Adam Schefter tells Big Al & DMac it was so good spending time with Al & to see so many great people affiliated with the franchise at the time of TD’s peak. Adam name-drops until he’s blue, and mentions what a great guy Alex Gibbs was. Schefter remembers covering Big Al at CU & says Davis is deserving. Adam says Trevor Siemian starting on Thursday is to be expected, and we’ll see if Paxton can take that step to separate himself from Trevor & his own intangibles. Listen to the interview HERE! Big Al says Siemian & Sloter have figured out the timing routes, and Sloter should be the No. 2 QB by now. DMac is fired up about gadget plays to Isaiah Mckenzie, and touches on the play sequence when the Broncos hit the Red-Zone. DMac may have noticed Paxton Lynch’s ‘Mark Sanchez Moment’ at Dove Valley today, and Al takes away Paxton as a possible starter for now.
Mentally, Paxton Lynch is just not there, and DMac compares the situation in training camp today to Javale McGee. Big Al asks DMac about his interview over the weekend with Trevor Siemian, and the guys hear some audio from DMac’s exchange with Vance Joseph today about who the starting QB will be against Chicago. Cecil Lammey is quick to tell the guys the kid’s not ready, and Paxton needs to avoid the unforgivable. Cecil highlights situations Lynch should know better, and Siemian has looked like the better guy since the pads have come on. Big Al asks Cecil about Devontae Booker getting the benefit of the doubt on the Broncos initial depth chart, and Cecil mentions how Jamaal Charles can quiet all the talk about Stevan Ridley. Cecil says the competition between Paxton & Trevor is virtually no longer open, and Big Al says it’s not fair to put injured players at No. 2 on the depth chart. Listen to the interview HERE! Siemian has the job wrapped up, and why would the Broncos go backwards now if Trevor has won the job for two straight years. DMac mentions the miscommunication between Siemian & Sanders, and notes what can happen between now & week 5.
The guys talk about the rotation set up with Paxton & Trevor, and unveil the poll results with Paxton set to start Week 2 in the preseason in mind. Al says he was shocked to hear Vance Joseph say Paxton will start in the second game. The organization must want Paxton to have the job, says DMac, and Al says what more can they give to Paxton in order for him to lead the organization. Also, revisiting the ‘Mark Sanchez Moment’ and playing everyone, even the lesser player, just to get some reps. Also, Al claims Kyle Sloter is a better NFL quarterback than Paxton Lynch, Jay Cutler trends up in Miami, and why everybody loves highlights at ceremonies.
