Pritch & Jack Fan Football Pregame Part 1: 10/1/17

Getting you set for Broncos vs. Raiders, Jack & Pritch establish the key differences in Khalil Mack & Von Miller, and if Denver can establish the run & hold up against BeastMode. Cecil Lammey joins Jack & Pritch to talk about how Denver slips the ‘game-face’ on against Oakland.

Pritch talks when the rivalry became personal, and how Shanahan shifted the slate when it comes to Broncos vs. Raiders. Jack thinks it’s a different era now, and the rivalries across the NFL have changed. In recent memory the Broncos have dominated, but Jack notes that Oakland holds the title historically. Pritch notes that a rivalry is real when organic things happen. Pritch mentions all the playmakers around Trevor Siemian, and crucial times when he must get rid of the ball are now under a microscope. Penalties can kill the Broncos, and Trevor must manage the down & distance and stay comfortable.

Pritch says the optics of the Broncos loss last week are different than the look of the Raiders loss to Washington. Jack asks Pritch if he’s ever been on a team with an identity crisis, and Pritch tells the listeners selfish play can hamper a team & their chemistry. Big personalities on a team can be coached, but Pritch mentions how hard it can be to win together as a team. Jack says there’s something to cultivating a winning culture. Pritch says with a banged up Michael Crabtree & Amari Cooper, look for the Raiders to create favorable matchups in the middle of the field with Cook & Richard. Aqib Talib says he’s not worried about Crab Boy’s chain heading into the matchup, and Jack & Pritch debate if that will be added motivation for the Raiders. Jack asks Pritch who scares the opposing offense more, Khalil Mack or Von Miller. Pritch mentions some pieces Oakland is missing that would open things up more for Mack, and Jack says the Broncos will need to be wary of helping Bolles & Watson in key situations. The guys want to know if it’s only called the ‘No Fly Zone’ because of Von Miller’s pressure off the edge, and question if Denver’s back-end is still dominant without T.J. Ward. Buffalo’s success will be separate from what works well for Oakland, and Pritch says don’t look for the Raiders to simply copy Buffalo’s gameplan.

Jack brings up some new players spicing up the Broncos vs. Raiders rivalry, and Pritch says both teams are simply different on the road, and we can point to the fans as a reason for that. The guys agree the Broncos’ playmakers on offense must be looking forward to this game, because the matchup is ripe for the picking. Denver needs to set a tone up front, and help out the offensive line with the running game as much as possible. Pritch says it’s no longer about the paycheck at this point in the season, it’s about staying engaged & keeping confidence up. Pritch wonders if Devontae Booker can make house calls once he returns, and says the RB room is extremely strong. Cecil Lammey joins Jack & Pritch to talk about how Denver slips the ‘game-face’ on against Oakland. Cecil wants to know just who the Raiders are, and if the Broncos can establish their own identity in one week or less. Cecil says if the Raiders have problems on defense like they did against Cousins last week, the Broncos could look bad-ass. Momentum builders like Mack & Lynch are highlighted, and Cecil says the Broncos need to have a physical approach against Oakland’s playmakers.
