Never Ruled Out: The Drive 12/19/17

The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE!  FAN Broncos Insider Cecil Lammey joins the show to say the Broncos should take a Tackle with their top pick in the ’18 NFL Draft, and Al & DMac ask him if Kirk Cousins would be a good fit in Denver.

DMac tells Big Al he’s a fan of the Rams & Pats GMs, and Al says we never ruled out Brock as the starter here in Denver when we learned the Broncos were moving on from Manning. Al wonders why the Broncos shy away from players out of Alabama & LSU. The guys go over a tough NFC South after the Falcons get a win in MNF over the Bucs. Al says it’s tough to go against Brees & Kamara, and DMac thinks nobody but Von deserves the Pro Bowl this year. Al says this is our first losing season under Elway, and DMac notes he will judge GMs every three years. Al is adamant that DMac hates John Elway, and DMac sarcastically says if you win a Super Bowl, you deserve a statue.

The Packers put Aaron Rodgers on IR, and the Broncos put Shane Ray on IR. The guys agree Denver might as well play Isaiah McKenzie as a punt returner at this point. DMac says there’s nothing worse than a 7-9 season, and the guys laugh about Jeff Fisher’s comments last season. FAN Broncos Insider Cecil Lammey joins the show to say the Broncos should take a Tackle with their top pick in the ’18 NFL Draft, and Al & DMac ask him if Kirk Cousins would be a good fit in Denver. Also, Cecil notes what should happen with Jamaal Charles, if the Broncos should address the RB position in the draft, and if Kobe Bryant is as legendary as they come. Listen to the interview HERE! Al says the Broncos current QBs are laughable, and wonders what the franchise would look  like had Denver not landed Peyton Manning. DMac asks Al where he stood on Brock Osweiler & Russell Wilson coming out of college. The boys go through the best QBs available in 2012 when Brock was drafted, and DMac talks about how the Denver Broncos avoid the Cleveland Browns trail of tears. DMac puts his Nick Foles thinking cap on, and Al mentions why teams might shy away from drafting Mason Rudolph.

The guys talk about Lane Kiffin’s extension at FAU, and why there is no word yet on the Broncos’ starting QB. Al says Denver thought they had put together an all-star coaching staff back when Mike McCoy was a hot commodity, and DMac says none of it matters when you don’t have the right QB. Al is irate with the Special Teams play this season, and DMac says nearly anyone can coach Special Teams. In the King Soopers Fan Football Pick Em Shame Game, Al & DMac flip a coin to see who has to suffer. Big Al loses the flip, and will have to face the music tomorrow. DMac asks Al about the most popular internet videos, and if Vance Joseph is still a ‘good’ head coach despite everything that’s happened to him. DMac says DT & Emmanuel are no longer the receivers they used to be, and it’s dragging the offense down. DMac asks Al if Kirk Cousins could lead this Broncos team to the playoffs, and Al explains how Denver can move away from Trevor Siemian.
