The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! Reuben Foster becomes tantalizing and a lot of The Drive’s top prospects will likely wind up being drafted before No. 20 overall. Number one Rockies are set to take on the red-hot Nationals at Coors Field with wild weather thrown in. Also, Cecil Lammey joins the show to laugh about his nerd day after John Elway personally addresses him & his question at Dove Valley.
Big Al knows John Elway can’t say what he wants. The guys talk about the crazy game of poker Elway just entered into that is the NFL draft, and know there better be a LT in the plans. DMac thinks over-mentioning Ty Sambrailo was a smoke screen from Elway, and the guys laugh at some audio of Cecil asking Elway about both tackle positions & the TE class of ’17. The debate rages on if Russell Westbrook was out of line when addressing a reporter following Oklahoma City’s loss to the Houston Rockets at home, and Big Al feels for Steve Kerr. Also, DMac says good thing Christian McCaffrey hung ’em up when he did.
Joe Mixon is moving up draft boards, and the guys hear from John Elway on if the Broncos would consider Mixon now that some of his legal troubles have been cleared up. Big Al & DMac laugh about the Broncos’ worst draft picks in history, including Ashley Lelie. Cecil Lammey joins the show to gush about his moment in the sun when John Elway addressed him by his first name at Dove Valley after Cecil asked Elway about this legendary ’17 TE draft class. DMac is excited about 104.3 The Fan’s gavel-to-gavel coverage of the NFL draft, and says that local T.V. news may be geared toward a certain audience. The guys debate if Elway was arrogant in letting Wade Phillips go, and DMac asks Al if Wade’s defensive scheme was exposed in the ’16 season. Al tells DMac he will be disappointed about the Broncos selecting a lineman in the first round, and challenges DMac to nail the first ten picks of the ’17 NFL draft exactly right. Also, after Roby & Ray wind up working out for the Broncos, DMac has his eye on guys like Bolles, Foster & Mixon that could fall into Elway’s hands, and Big Sexy has another Tebow Update for the fellas.
