The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! FAN Broncos Insider Cecil Lammey joins the show to say Josh Allen needs to perform at the Senior Bowl so he can set himself apart from Baker Mayfield. Denver7 Broncos Insider Troy Renck joins the show to talk about the Broncos new coaching moves in hiring QB Coach Mike Sullivan & RB Coach Curtis Modkins, and if the new guys are a good fit for what Denver is trying to do.
DMac wants to know where Eric Bieniemy is, and tells Al the Broncos thought they could put anybody in at QB & still be successful. Al isn’t sure what kind of quarterback Siemian profiles to be, and Zach Bye pays Big Al in pennies. DMac says Elway has already lived through the nightmare of ‘set-the-bar’ deals & it only worked with Manning. Also, Al knows he has a bonafide leader & winner in Case Keenum. In the Big 3 @ 3:30, DMac notes that CJ Anderson took down all his Broncos affiliation on his twitter profile, and may be moving on this offseason. Big Al tells DMac about Leonard Fournette’s gesture to his offensive line, buying them all Rolex watches for their hard work. Also, Bill Belichick doesn’t accept tardiness & Al decides who will make Josh Allen a first-round pick. DMac asks Al about ratings being down across the board, and if protests against standing for the flag had anything to do with it. Big Al notes NFL Red Zone, mobile watching and quality of play as other possible factors.
The guys get pumped up for the Senior Bowl, and wonder about what Cecil Lammey will be focused on when he goes out to Alabama. Also, Big Al notes there will always be a small group of fans that disagrees with whoever the Broncos draft, including Baker Mayfield. FAN Broncos Insider Cecil Lammey joins the show to say Josh Allen needs to perform at the Senior Bowl so he can set himself apart from Baker Mayfield. Cecil remembers Tim Tebow at the Senior Bowl, and how it can help young QBs get experience & training that they need. Also, Cecil highlights the ‘getting-to-know-you’ process that comes with the Senior Bowl, and how it can help teams find out more about a player before drafting them. Big Al is excited about Nick Chubb, and wants the Broncos to grab him if he slips to the second round. Listen to the interview HERE! DMac tells a caller he doesn’t see Nate Solder playing for the Broncos, and offers his regards to Solder & his family as they deal with some tough times due to cancer & it’s complications. Al says Tyrod Taylor is a hell of a player, but is under contract with the Bills for one more year. Also, the Broncos reach agreements with QB Coach Mike Sullivan & RB Coach Curtis Modkins. Denver7 Broncos Insider Troy Renck joins the show to talk about the Broncos new coaching moves in hiring QB Coach Mike Sullivan & RB Coach Curtis Modkins, and if the new guys are a good fit for what Denver is trying to do. Troy has his eye on Rosen, Darnold and Barkley with a top-5 pick in hand, and tries to explain the new coaches’ connection with Vance Joseph. Troy says VJ must improve next year, and needs to go down swinging with guys that are on the same page when it comes to the coaching staff. Listen to the interview HERE!
Big Al says Jordan Taylor is not special, and we need a special punt returner. Al tells DMac we need to upgrade every position, and he still has questions about Baker Mayfield. The guys discuss the difference in Josh Rosen & Sam Darnold, and DMac doubts the NY Giants treat Eli Manning like Alex Smith. Big Al says the Broncos can win with a 38-year-old Eli Manning if the Giants let him slip away, and Manning just became ‘Plan A.’ Big Al takes the Buffs over the Sun Devils tonight in basketball, and the Avs to get a big win over the Blue Jackets.
