The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! DMac and Al are thrilled with the NHL Stanley Cup Final, and DMac takes a call on the current state of college baseball. The Colorado Eagles won their first ECHA Championship last night, and DMac gives them some credit. Also, Colin Kaepernick remains unsigned and the guys debate why that is.
Big Al is steady watching and learning about the NHL, and is happy to see black athletes like P.K. Subban succeeding. Charles Barkley asks Wayne Gretzky who his favorite black athlete is, and Gretzky responds with Grant Fuhr, his goalie when the Oilers were winning championships.
The NY Jets continue their turnover, as Eric Decker is set to be released or traded. DMac lobbies for veteran linebacker David Harris in Denver now that the Jets have released him, and the guys hear from the Broncos tight ends out at Dove Valley as another crucial Broncos position race comes down to the wire. Also, DMac wants Virgil Green to go deeper in his defense of Colin Kaepernick, and Big Al wonders why things are just the opposite with Peyton Manning.
DMac tells Big Al his problem with Colin Kaepernick in the first place, and Al says it all comes down to wondering whether a coach can trust an athlete. DMac mentions the terrible planning by Kaepernick leading up to his taking a knee on Week 1 in the 2016 season, and says Kaep doesn’t have to be so clumsy moving forward. Also, Big Al asks DMac if some people are still not okay with Brandon Marshall, after he decided to join Kaepernick in taking a knee early on in the season.
