The Drive LIVE in studio, it’s Big Al and DMac talking Broncos Training Camp as today’s practice was a rough one, for the entire team. Obviously the Quarterback position is the most recognized position, so there is special pressure on Mark Sanchez, Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. We are joined by Cecil Lammey to break down his perspective of practice earlier today.
The Drive with Big Al and DMac LIVE as the Broncos got their Training Camp back on the field after yesterday’s day off. The fellas talk about how AWFUL the practice was, even Coach Kubiak had to step in, stop practice and have a little talk with his team about their performance. The guys bring up the Quarterback play, or lack thereof, from practice today. With how things fell today, the guys have Trevor Siemian leading the Quarterback race so far.
The Big Three at 3:30 brings up Demaryius Thomas’ grandmother getting her sentence commuted by the President today, Michael Phelps insinuating that he’ll compete in the 2020 Olympics in China, former Knicks Head Coach Derek Fisher interested in a comeback to PLAY in the NBA, Von Miller is the new voice of the DIA train and the Hall of Fame chances of DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller.
Our Broncos Insider, Cecil Lammey, joins the show to talk about this morning’s practice. The struggles of the Quarterback position is in the limelight of this conversation as Trevor Siemian was the best of the worst today as he was more aggressive than he has been in past practices. Football at Four underway talking Broncos Quarterbacks as the team was back on the fields of the UC Health Training Center out at Dove Valley for Training Camp. We hear from Mark Sanchez about how things are going well… which makes the guys question, how well it’s really going as there are some Wide Receivers showing their displeasure towards this crop of Bronco Quarterbacks.
The fellas talk about some of these sports writers that have moved on from print writing to the television, Mike Klis to 9NEWS, Troy Renck to Channel 7. Special Teams moves into the conversation as we talk Punting competition. DMac thinks Britton Colquitt has been more consistent than Riley Dixon. It’ll be interesting due to their contractual situation as the team would save $2.5 million if Dixon beats out Colquitt.
The hour wraps up with a breakdown of who, if the season started right now, would make this Defensive squad. It’s tricky for these undrafted free agents to make this team.
The third and final hour underway with Big Al and DMac admitting they forgot about Adam Gotsis when they were making their cuts, Gotsis makes the team. Alfred brings up that Donovan McNabb will be joining ESPN Radio come September.
Big Al admits he isn’t comfortable with Trevor Siemian as the starting quarterback for the Broncos even though it seems like Trevor just won’t go away and be a back up. What if Siemian plays well? What happens with Paxton Lynch?
The Closing Bell, trending up and trending down, rings on the Olympics bringing back some sports for the next Olympic games and the Broncos Coaching Staff as trending up. Trending down is Ryan Fitzmagic’s hair and the Broncos’ players response to the challenge issued by their coaching staff.
The show wraps up with the guys talking about the Broncos’ stadium naming rights and how Sports Authority is the one that’s letting people down here.
