The Drive with Big Al & DMac LIVE in studio! New Denver Nuggets draft pick Tyler Lydon joins the show. Right away, DMac starts singing Syracuse’s fight song & Big Al asks Tyler if he can recite it. DMac asks Tyler what players he liked watching as a kid, and Tyler quickly lists Melo, LeBron & KD. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show. Big Al tells Patrick that DMac is borderline delusional about the Rockies, and DMac asks Patrick where he’s sitting currently.
The Rockies losing streak has DMac down, and Big Al is here to comfort him. The guys compare Nolan Arenado’s critical stats to those of Chicago Cubs star Kris Bryant, and say Nolan should have a shot at MVP this year if the Rockies can remain relevant. DMac asks Tyler what players he liked watching as a kid, and Tyler quickly lists Melo, LeBron & KD. Big Al asks Tyler what it was like playing for coach Jim Boeheim, and Tyler says he loved it, mentioning Boeheim as one of the best in coaching history. The guys laugh about Jeff Fisher getting fired, and emotionally telling his team about it. DMac tells Al about the guys from South Park being from CU, and asks Al about the fastest he ever ran. Also, digital pitch trackers & the direction of baseball with the addition of new technologies. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post joins the show. Big Al tells Patrick that DMac is borderline delusional about the Rockies, and DMac asks Patrick where he’s sitting currently. Patrick says he thinks the Rockies will start hitting, but if they want to make a run, Colorado must make at least one move for a key pitcher or added arm to the starting rotation. Patrick says with sabermetrics, there are no longer any secrets in baseball & teams are starting to figure out Colorado’s young pitchers. Listen to the interview HERE!
The guys talk about Terrell Davis’ Hall of Fame ceremony, and Big Al says he got his invite this week. Al says he is excited to see TD & hang with the home-boys, but has no interested in staying for the game, or for anything else. Al says Canton, Ohio does not represent the NFL & it’s billions of dollars. John Calipari is interested in Phil Jackson’s old spot on the Knicks, and DMac mentions Venus Williams’ sticky situation stemming back to 2010. Also, Big Sexy’s Who Ya Got & Tim Tebow Update.
