Avalanche playoff run continues Sunday, NHL announces

The Colorado Avalanche continue their march toward the Stanley Cup on Sunday when their run resumes with the beginning of Round 2 against the Minnesota Wild.

The NHL announced late Friday night that the Avs will drop the puck on their next series at Ball Arena on Sunday at 7 p.m., broadcasted by TNT.

The Avs got past the Los Angeles Kings in a sweep while the Wild were taken to six games by fellow Central division foe, the Dallas Stars.

The two Central Division rivals in the Avs and Wild are no strangers to one another, having met four times during the regular season where both teams went 2-1-1. It’s the fourth time these franchises have met in the playoffs, with the last meeting coming in Nathan MacKinnon’s rookie year way back in 2013-14. Including that series, the Wild have won two of the three previous playoff matchups between the franchises.
