Pat McAfee is officially locked in on how dominant the Avs are right now

The Colorado Avalanche officially have the attention of ESPN’s Pat McAfee.

One of the biggest personalities going in sports media, McAfee showered the Avs with love on his program earlier this week after they took a dominant 2-0 series lead over the Minnesota Wild.

Colorado scored nine goals in an insane 9-6 Game 1 win and followed that up with a very convincing 5-2 victory in Game 2.

Even if McAfee doesn’t know hockey as well as football and basketball, he went out of his way to talk about how great the Avalanche look right now.

“This Mile High team in the Avalanche, they’re bigger, stronger, tougher and better than you,” Pat McAfee said.

He goes on to mention Nathan MacKinnon not only registering three points in Game 2, but laying huge hits on Minnesota’s Quinn Hughes and Matt Boldy.

“The Minnesota Wild guy getting bodied off the thing by the star of the other team late in the game. This Avalanche team is rude,” McAfee said.

And rude should be taken as the highest compliment, given that MacKinnon was still sacrificing his body deep into the game with the result basically not in question.

Of course locally we’ve known all season long how great the Avs are. They won the Presidents’ Trophy and are 6-0 thus far in six playoff games.

But now they’re catching even more national attention, with Pat McAfee the latest to chime in.

If things continue to play out like they have the Avs will only get more and more attention over the next six weeks. And that’s hopefully on the march to another Stanley Cup.
