Nathan MacKinnon forces OT in Game 5 with unreal snipe

The Colorado Avalanche erased a 3-0 first-period deficit — scoring twice in 2:10 in the final minutes of regulation — to force overtime in Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild. Nathan MacKinnon, with goalie Scott Wedgewood pulled for an extra attacker and just 1:23 remaining, fired from below the dot and went top shelf over Jesper Wallstedt to complete the comeback and tie it 3-3.

Colorado was down 3-0 and pulled starter Mackenzie Blackwood after one period. But a goal in the second and one late set up Nate’s moment.

With under 90 seconds left in the game and down one, MacKinnon fired from below the dot and went top shelf over Wallstedt to force overtime.

The last time MacKinnon scored an unreal goal in a Game 5 of Round 2, the Avs blew it against the Blues. The team got the job done back in 2022 in Game 6. A win on Wednesday would advance Colorado to the Western Conference Final against either the Ducks or Knights.
