Avs give ring to key forward and now Seattle standout Andre Burakovsky

The Stanley Cup Champions of a season ago have gone their separate ways. While most stay as members of the Colorado Avalanche, some have journeyed to other teams. One of those players is in Seattle and was yet to receive his championship ring; Andre Burakovsky.

That is, until today.

Burakovsky returned to Denver with the Kraken and was given his ring before Friday night’s game.

The three-year member of the Avs scored over 60 goals in burgundy and blue, coming over from Washington after winning a cup in D.C. Now he’s moved on thanks to a five-year deal worth $5.5 million per season. Maybe the Kraken are poised to win in his final season in Seattle a few years from now, just like his last two spots?

Burakovsky said he feels like he’s home in a way, said he thinks he likes this ring better than the one he scored with the Capitals, and joked about slashing Mikko Rantanen in the leg.

“It was hard to have morning skate after that ceremony, for sure. But like I said, I’m excited to get back here and play in front of these fans, and like I said, just compete against all the guys,” he said. “It’s going to be fun seeing the guys in the corners and battle with them a little bit, you know. Maybe slash Mikko [Rantanen] in the back of the leg a little bit.”

Burakovsky played in 12 games during the Cup run, keeping his head high through a few healthy scratches. He scored three goals in the playoffs, including an overtime game-winner in the Cup Final against Tampa Bay.
