Greenlaw sidelined for second-straight day; Roach has calf strain

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw was held out of practice for a second-consecutive afternoon as the Denver Broncos continued getting ready for their Week 1 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Greenlaw, who dealt with a quadriceps injury early in training camp and missed the entire offseason with another quad injury, has seen his workload managed with what Broncos coach Sean Payton described Monday as a “conservative” protocol.

The free-agent pickup spent the last two days working out on a side field.

“We are being smart, we’re being conservative, relative to the approach,” Payton said. “… Having him not only healthy early on but for the long haul is the goal.”

Greenlaw did not play any snaps during preseason games, but did see team-period reps in practices during the final two weeks of the preseason working alongside Alex Singleton, who completed his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered last year.

Tight end Nate Adkins was the only other member of the 53-player roster who did not practice Thursday. Practice-squad cornerback Reese Taylor also did not practice.

BEYOND GREENLAW, TWO DEFENSIVE PLAYERS WERE ADDED TO THE INJURY REPORT

Edge rusher Dondrea Tillman and defensive lineman Malcolm Roach both landed on the team’s official injury report after not being listed there Thursday.

Tillman was added due to a hamstring issue. Roach left practice early and was listed with a calf issue, later learned to be a calf strain.
