Eight NFL teams above 85 percent vaccination threshold

According to the NFL, Monday marked the deadline for players to get vaccinated to be cleared and avoid restrictions when most teams open training camp on July 27.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that, as of Monday, seven teams are above the 85% threshold for player vaccinations.

Seven NFL teams are now above the 85% threshold for player vaccinations and 70% of players league-wide have at least one shot, I’m told.

Teams above the threshold will have fewer restrictions once camps open. Pelissero added that 71% of players league-wide have had at least one shot.

According to reports, Monday was the deadline for players to get their second shot (or a single shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine) to clear the window to be considered fully vaccinated.

The league and NFL Players Association agreed to relax some guidelines for fully vaccinated players while keeping very strict practices in place for unvaccinated players.

Some restrictions for unvaccinated players include traveling on a separate plane, being unable to leave the team hotel or interact with people outside the organization while traveling, and needing to wear masks at facilities, and while traveling.

Training camps open in less than two weeks, which means any player who hasn’t had his second shot yet won’t be fully vaccinated in time for training camp.
