There’s good and bad news when it comes to free-agent RB options for the Broncos

The Denver Broncos didn’t trade for Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery on Monday as he instead went to the Houston Texans.

And on Tuesday, there was more news on the running back front. Specifically, some good and bad when it comes to free-agent options for the Broncos.

The New York Jets franchise tagged Breece Hall, so he’s off the board. Multiple reports says the Jets and Hall might work out a long-term contract, but regardless he won’t be in Denver for the 2026 season.

However, shortly after that broke, it was also reported that Kenneth Walker III will not be getting tagged by the Seattle Seahawks.

The Super Bowl MVP will officially hit the market in free agency next week and he’d certainly be a juicy option for the Broncos.

With Kenneth Walker not expected to be tagged, there’s a chance he could become just the fourth player to win Super Bowl MVP and begin the following season with a different team.

Denver GM George Paton said some nice things about RJ Harvey at the NFL Combine, plus it sounds like the Broncos are open to bringing back their own free agent running back in J.K. Dobbins.

However, Dobbins has been injury prone his whole career and while Harvey had moments as a rookie, most fans feel like a running back upgrade is necessary.

Paton and Broncos head coach Sean Payton could take a big swing at Walker, but Hall is no longer a choice. As free agency gets closer and closer, more reports should leak, with hopefully some of those linking a new RB to Denver.
