Broncos sign journeyman defensive lineman Michael Dwumfour

The Denver Broncos added a bit of bulk to their roster on Wednesday, signing defensive tackle Michael Dwumfour.

To add Dwumfour, the Broncos waived rookie linebacker JB Brown.

The Broncos will be Dwumfour’s seventh NFL team and 11th separate stint with a franchise since leaving Rutgers in 2021. Dwumfour has played in 13 NFL games, most recently getting on the field for the Browns in one game during the 2024 season.

Dwumfour played most of his games in 2022, when he got into nine NFL games between stints with the Texans and 49ers.

The 6-foot-1, 296-pound defender has made 13 tackles, two of which were for a loss, while getting six hits on the quarterback.

Dwumfour played earlier this preseason for the 49ers, with whom the Broncos had a joint practice and game against a few weeks ago. He made one tackle against the Broncos in that first week’s affair.

Dwumfour was a very good player at Michigan before spending his senior year at Rutgers.

NFL rosters cut down to 53 men on Tuesday, so it’ll be a tough job for Dwumfour to impress enough to make the main roster in such a short period.
