Russell Wilson is ready to get to work.
The new quarterback of the Broncos is diving right in.
After his introductory press conference on Wednesday, Wilson did several 1-on-1 interviews with local media, and what he told 9NEWS Broncos insider Mike Klis jumped out.
Wilson shared that he will be traveling “out West” to start throwing with his Broncos receivers “coming up in a couple days.” Klis says those workouts will be at Wilson’s training facility in San Diego, which has an 80-yard practice field.
While its unclear which receivers will be heading to California with Wilson, one can safely assume Courtland Sutton, Tim Patrick and Jerry Jeudy will all be there. Patrick was at Wilson’s press conference, along with KJ Hamler, who’s still rehabbing from a torn ACL.
It’s not uncommon for QBs to throw to their receivers during the offseason, but the fact Wilson is diving right in is super encouraging. There’s no doubt the Denver receiving corps is dripping with talent, but the results a season ago were extremely underwhelming. Sutton caught just two touchdowns and Jeudy had zero. Patrick caught five touchdowns even though he’s the team’s “No. 3” wide receiver on paper.
Regardless, a lot of that can be attributed to poor QB play, and it won’t be an issue moving forward. Russell Wilson is officially the quarterback of the Broncos, and the work starts now.
Let’s Ride.
