Broncos list Malcolm Roach as questionable, rule out two players for Sunday’s game against Jets

Malcolm Roach’s 2025 debut for the Denver Broncos is drawing closer. After he missed the start of the season with a calf injury that landed him on the IR, his 21-day window to return from short-term injured reserve was opened this week.

Roach was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday, but participated in full on both Thursday and Friday. After two full days of work across the pond, the Broncos listed him as questionable heading into Sunday’s contest against the Jets. That still doesn’t confirm that his debut will come this week, but it’s a good sign.

“He’s doing well,” Broncos head coach Sean Payton said Friday.

On the flip side, the team ruled out Jonah Elliss and Ben Powers for Sunday’s game, both of whom didn’t participate in practice this week. Elliss has been battling ailments with his ribs and shoulders, while Powers underwent surgery for a biceps injury earlier this week. He’s still listed on the injury report because the team has not officially put him on IR yet. The hope is for the guard to come back in December.

Other Broncos on Friday’s injury report include Tyler Badie, Nik Bonitto, D.J. Jones and Alex Singleton. All of those guys were full participants on Friday and seem to be on track to play in Sunday’s game. Their official statuses for the game have not been announced.

The Jets ruled out cornerback Michael Carter II and wide receiver Allen Lazard for the game. Lazard has seen action on just over a quarter of the Jets’ total offensive snaps, while Carter has bee the third cornerback in the rotation, playing just over 43% of the defense’s total snaps. Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson seems on track to return after missing the last few games with an ankle injury.

Sunday’s contest between the Broncos and Jets will kick off at 7:30 a.m. MT on Sunday from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.
