Report: Broncos bring back WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey for another year

The Denver Broncos can’t quit wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey.

And neither can head coach Sean Payton.

As NFL free agency continued on Thursday, multiple reports said that the Broncos are bringing back Humphrey for the 2026 season.

The Broncos are re-signing WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey, per source.

Humphrey played in New Orleans for multiple seasons under Payton from 2019-2021. He was then in a Broncos uniform during the 2023 and 2024 seasons before beginning last year with the New York Giants.

But Denver went and signed Humphrey off the New York practice squad in November and he played seven regular season games in a Broncos uniform. He had nine catches for 101 yards in those games.

Of course, Humphrey was a memorable part of Denver’s divisional round win over the Buffalo Bills in both good and bad ways. He dropped a touchdown early from QB Bo Nix and the Broncos had to settle for a Wil Lutz field goal.

However, right before halftime, Humphrey made up for the blunder — hauling in a 29-yard TD pass from Nix to help put the Broncos up 17-10.

In an offseason thus far where Payton and GM George Paton have only retained their own guys, Humphrey is the latest addition to that list.

Clearly he has the trust of the head coach, playing the majority of his career thus far for Payton. Whether or not this signing makes fans happy — as Humphrey also had another drop on Christmas against the Chiefs — is up for debate.
