The injury bug is slowly starting to spread for the Denver Broncos in training camp.

Alex Singleton just underwent a minor surgery on his thumb, Dre Greenlaw pulled a muscle and Drew Sanders suffered a foot injury that will keep him out for an extended period of time. The defense also lost Johnny Walker Jr. on Thursday, as the young prospect out of Missouri hit the injured reserve list.

Friday was more bad news for the orange and blue, as another young defender was not in pads. Que Robinson, the team’s fourth-round pick out of Alabama, was at practice, but was observing the action from the sidelines as he wore a brace on his right knee.

Robinson is a project as a pass rusher, but should be a guy who can make a big impact on special teams, which is what he did with the Crimson Tide. He was a “core-four” guy as he made played on punt, kickoff, punt return and kick return. He was also on the field goal block and field goal teams as well.

The 24-year-old was back to 100 percent after suffering an elbow injury last season that limited him to nine games, including five starts — the only five starts of his five seasons — including one redshirt campaign — at Alabama. However, the good health didn’t last long.

This isn’t a big blow to the pass rush room, as Nik Bonitto, Jonathon Cooper, Jonah Elliss and Dondrea Tillman are ahead of him as the main four in the rotation off the edge. However, new special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi has been trying to beef up that unit this offseason with the additions of Robinson, wide receiver Trent Sherfield and others, so this news is not the best sight for him, as Robinson has what it takes to earn his worth in Week 1 as a special teamer.

As of Friday morning, there is no official word on exactly what Robinson is dealing with or how long he will be out.
