Broncos get playoff rematch, NFL sets date

The Denver Broncos will meet the Buffalo Bills in the NFL Playoffs for a second-straight year, this time it will come in the Divisional Round and in the Mile High City. The game will kick off on Saturday, with a time and network to be announced after this week’s Monday Night Football.

Last January, the young Broncos surprised many by making the postseason and earned a trip as a No. 7 seed to No. 2 Buffalo. The Bills walloped Denver 31-7 in that Wild Card contest, en route to an AFC Championship Game appearance, where they lost just before the buzzer. Many in Broncos Country weren’t too upset with the result, given the team hadn’t made the playoffs in a decade, so just making the tournament was a positive.

But it’s a lot different this year with the Broncos being the top seed at 14-3 and the Bills coming to Denver at 12-5. Despite Vegas favoring Buffalo by 1.5 points, there’s real expectation in Denver that this team is special and can carve a path through their home field and into the Super Bowl.

The first step for the Broncos is getting their first playoff win since their Super Bowl win to finish the 2015 season. The Broncos will also be seeking Bo Nix’s first playoff win and Sean Payton’s first since leaving Louisiana. Meanwhile, Josh Allen tallied his first-ever road playoff win, and the Bills scored their first road playoff win since 1992 by beating the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with a comeback win via a last-moment touchdown.

Denver has been sitting back, awaiting their first foe. The Bills are the lowest seed left, so that’s who it will be coming to Colorado. The other side of the AFC bracket will see the New England Patriots host either the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Houston Texans.
