Pat Bryant out of hospital after big scare in Broncos loss

DENVER — Pat Bryant was rushed to the hospital on a stretcher after a strong hit late in the Denver Broncos 34-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. The rookie wide receiver wasn’t there long, discharged later in the evening with tests for a neck injury coming back negative, according to ESPN.

The play where Bryant got hurt happened with 41 seconds left. Bo Nix ran away from the Jags’ defense and threw an 11-yard completion to Bryant, who was almost instantly nailed by Montaric Brown. The hit was clean, but the momentum of it whipped Bryant’s head back.

He was down on the field for a while, moving his limbs a bit, but ended up immobilized and on a backboard by medical staff. From there, he was taken via ambulance to the hospital.

The hit and a breakdown of what may occoured, according to a doctor, is below.

Sean Payton confirmed the movement in Bryant’s limbs after the game.

“You never want to see somebody in that situation, and I feel responsible because I threw it,” Nix said. “You can say it’s part of the game, but you just never want to see it.”

The third-rounder caught five passes for 42 yards in the game. He’s had a solid first year as a pro, going for 347 yards and a touchdown.
