Oddsmakers make Broncos biggest underdogs of Week 17 in Kansas City

The Denver Broncos looked done last weekend in Los Angeles on Christmas, so what better way to start the New Year than against the AFC West-best Kansas City Chiefs?

The Broncos are coming off a historically bad 37-point loss to the Rams, while the Chiefs sped past the Seahawks in their fight for another Super Bowl.

Denver’s league-worst offense at 15.5 points per game is going toe-to-toe with the best offense in the AFC in Kansas City, scoring 29.2 per contest, which is more than Denver has scored in any single game.

Oddsmakers currently predict that the Broncos will lose by 13 to 10.5 points depending on where you look. That’s made worse when you consider prognosticators expect a very low-scoring showdown, with a total of 43.5 points.

That means folks in Vegas think the Broncos will lose about around 28-15. There are no other double-digit favorites in the NFL for the Week 16 slate.

Denver’s defense looks broken. Before a few weeks ago, the Broncos have only had one non-one-score game this season, they’ve lost two blowouts in recent weeks. It’s not too surprising at this point to see the oddsmakers jumping off any hopes of a Russell Wilson-led turnaround this season, as the star quarterback threw three interceptions against the Rams.

This will be the 126th matchup between these division foes. The Chiefs are 70-55 all-time against the Broncos, including one playoff win for the Broncos. The Broncos have lost 14 straight games to the Chiefs, never beating Patrick Mahomes.

The Broncos finish out their season at home again the following week against the Chargers.
