Former Bill and 2025 draft pick could make Broncos debut Saturday

Two interesting players who haven’t played for the Denver Broncos could make their debut for the team on Saturday during the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs against the Buffalo Bills.

The Broncos elevated wide receiver Elijah Moore and tight end Caleb Lohner from the practice squad to the active roster for Saturday’s game, the team announced Friday.

Moore, a 2021 second-round pick by the New York Jets, has brought significant NFL experience to Denver’s receiver room. The veteran has started 42 games and appeared in 70 contests during his career, recording 209 catches for 2,274 yards and nine touchdowns. He appeared in nine games for the Bills earlier this season before Buffalo released him, and he signed with the Broncos’ practice squad in early December.

If Moore sees the field Saturday, he’ll do so against his former team—a storyline worth monitoring as Denver looks for any edge against the AFC’s No. 2 seed.

“I did all I could in meetings,” Moore told the Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson about spilling his old team’s secrets. “They asked me questions. Whatever they asked, I gave it to them.”

Lohner represents one of the more unique stories on Denver’s roster. The 2025 seventh-round pick spent his college career as a basketball player, competing for BYU and Baylor before converting to football in 2024. In his lone collegiate football season, he caught just four passes—but all four went for touchdowns.

The former hooper has spent the entire 2025 season on Denver’s practice squad, but Saturday could mark his NFL debut. His size and athleticism at tight end give the Broncos another red-zone option behind Evan Engram.

Both elevations provide Sean Payton with additional depth as Denver faces a Buffalo team that ended the Broncos’ season last year and nearly did again last weekend in the Wild Card Round. But neither is guaranteed to play. Last year, former Bronco Kareem Jackson was on Buffalo’s practice squad and was elevated for the game but was ultimately inactive.

The Bills also made a roster move with a veteran wide receiver on Friday, activating Curtis Samuel from injured reserve. They also activated longtime nose tackle Ed Oliver.

Kickoff of Broncos-Bills is set for 2:30 p.m. MT on CBS.
