DENVER BRONCOS

It’s time for the Broncos to finally embrace going into full rebuild mode

Much like the 49ers and Raiders have done in recent years, it's time for Denver to strip things bare and commit to starting all over again

Watch: The 2026 Broncos campaign started Friday night, WHAT are the biggest takeaways? | Freshly Grated | 21 mins

It is no secret, the Broncos and the Jets are the clear-cut two worst teams in the NFL. No one needs to see anymore; both teams need a new head coach, cannot block anyone upfront and are overall disasters in the front office. Thursday night’s game is a battle for Trevor Lawrence.

The Broncos need to commit to an actual rebuild. No more of the “win now” mentality. They are not close to winning now. Every aspect of this team needs a major upgrade. If the Broncos are in a position to draft Trevor Lawrence (or Justin Fields), they’d be foolish to pass that up, regardless how they feel about Drew Lock.

Simply drafting offensive weapons like Noah Fant, Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler is not rebuilding. Let us look at some teams who committed to a full on rebuild.

The 49ers signed Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch to six-year deals, traded for Jimmy Garoppolo and drafted first rounders all along the front seven. They fully committed to a rebuild, knowing things would be tough for a couple seasons, and it has paid off.

How about the Raiders? They hired Jon Gruden and stripped everything bare. They traded Khalil Mack and Amari Cooper, and loaded up on draft picks. They embraced a rebuild. And now, the Raiders are clearly trending up.

It’s tough for teams to admit to a rebuild, but it’s something that needs to be done for the Broncos. Instead of the delusional bill of goods we are sold every year, wouldn’t it be nice to hear some honesty from this team? If the Broncos draft Lawrence (or Fields) along with a new head coach would be the first steps in the rebuild the Broncos have needed for years. If this means the Broncos need to trade players like Von Miller, Bradley Chubb or Courtland Sutton, so be it.

The Broncos are 0-3. The playoffs are a pipe dream, Fangio is in over his head and Drew Lock is hurt for the second time in two years. It’s time for this franchise to actually commit to rebuilding with no more band aids. The Broncos need to look in the mirror, admit they’re not close to being a contender and do the work to build this team from the ground up. Drafting Trevor Lawrence (or Justin Fields) along with an offensive-minded head coach is the first step to this process.
