Broncos add ex-Raiders edge rusher to practice squad

The Broncos filled out a practice-squad vacancy Tuesday by signing edge rusher Jahfari Harvey.

An SMU product who spent four previous seasons at the University of Miami, Harvey was released from the Las Vegas Raiders’ practice squad earlier this month. He spent most of last season on Las Vegas’ practice squad, but was bumped up to the 53-player roster for the final two weeks of last season.

Harvey played in the Raiders’ final two games last season, recording a tackle and a pass breakup.

During his six college seasons, he tallied 18 sacks and 34.5 tackles for losses. His most productive season came in 2024 at SMU, when he notched college highs in both sacks (7.5) and tackles for losses (12.5) in helping the Mustangs to a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Broncos did not have to make a corresponding move to add Harvey, as they had a practice-squad vacancy after moving long snapper Mitchell Fraboni to the 53-player roster last Saturday.

They will likely have to make one more 53-player roster move this week, as fullback Adam Prentice is out of practice-squad elevations. Prentice, who is the Broncos’ only fullback on either the primary roster or practice squad, has already hit the season-long limit of three elevations per player.

Fraboni moved up to the 53-player roster as a corresponding move for running back Jonah Coleman landing on injured reserve.

As for Harvey, he joins fellow edge rushers Johnny Walker Jr. and David Agoha on the practice squad. Agoha is the Broncos’ designated international practice-squad player and does not count toward its 16-player limit.
