Garett Bolles sends confident message to Broncos Country following miraculous win

The Denver Broncos shocked the entire NFL world on Sunday. After the New York Giants blew them out for three quarters in a game that was all about honoring the legacy of one of the greatest teams and players in franchise history, it seemed that all hope had been lost.

Many fans got up from their seats at Empower Field at Mile High, many fans changed the channel on the television, as a tipped-ball touchdown for the Giants midway through the fourth quarter showed that it wasn’t the Broncos’ day, despite the celebration going on at the stadium. The tide turned drastically, and the Broncos scored a total of 33 fourth quarter points to engineer one of the greatest comebacks in franchise history to take sole possession of first place in the division.

Cornerstone left tackle Garett Bolles had a message for those fans who thought it was a good idea to beat the postgame traffic on I-25.

BRONCOS ARE ‘JUST A DIFFERENT TEAM’

“Well, if I was going to speak to speak to Broncos Country, you better stay for the whole game, because this team is just a different team. You never know what’s going to happen with this team. You never know where the ball is going to fall, but this team is just full of winners,” he said after the win.

Wether it’s the linemen like Bolles who stepped up and made plays, or their young linebacker in Justin Strnad who made one of the biggest plays of the game, or the team’s vocal leader in Courtland Sutton, Bolles’ sentiment doesn’t change. Throughout the 53-man roster and the practice squad, the Broncos’ roster is filled with winners.

Bolles also gave credit to head coach Sean Payton for preparing the team for those high-pressure situations throughout the week in practice.

“We practice these situations time and time again with Coach Payton, and what he puts us in those situations throughout the weeks and through training camp,” Bolles said.” We practice these things so when our number was called, we knew exactly what we needed to do. Courtland [Sutton] climbs and made big time catches down the stretch and then [Wil] Lutz kicked the field goal.”

While the offense looked lifeless for three quarters, it sure seemed like they were ready to roll when their backs were against the wall in the four-minute and two-minute offensive scenarios down the stretch. Everyone was on the ball when it needed to be spiked, the receivers knew exactly where they needed to be, and Bo Nix knew exactly where the football needed to go. Sunday’s game and the Week 5 comeback against the Eagles showed that this team is best when backed into a corner. While that might not be the most stress-free way of winning that Broncos Country would enjoy, it’s produced the two best wins of the season for Payton’s squad.

“This is just who we are. We’re fighters. We continue to win, and I’m just proud of this team,” Bolles said.

The Broncos are going to have to fight hard again next week, as they welcome the Cowboys to town for another clash against an NFC East foe. The Cowboys offense, led by potential MVP candidate Dak Prescott, is playing some of the best football in the league right now, so this orange and blue defense will have its work cut out for itself.
