ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Tight end Evan Engram returned to practice Thursday as the Broncos cranked up their preparations for Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The offseason free-agent pickup missed last Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers due to a back issue that sidelined him for all three days of practice last week. He also dealt with a calf injury that he suffered in the Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans, but that did not keep him from playing at Indianapolis seven days later.
So far this season, Engram has four catches for 33 yards. Dexnver’s tight ends as a group have 10 receptions for 63 yards through three games.
WITH ENGRAM BACK, BRONCOS HAD 100-PERCENT PARTICIPATION ON THEIR 53-MAN ROSTER
Every player on the primary roster and practice squad took part in Thursday’s practice.
Of course, that did not include inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who will miss at least the next three games after being moved to injured reserve Saturday.
That decision took “a little pressure off” Greenlaw as he attempts to recover from quadriceps issues that have lingered and been aggravated since April, Broncos coach Sean Payton said last Sunday.
“We could have done it earlier. There was still a goal date and it was either this week or next. We felt like the last thing we wanted to do is have him come out too early and re-injure it,” Payton said.
“… In hindsight, we could have said it and done it sooner.”
Greenlaw could return in time for the Broncos’ Week 7 game against the New York Giants.
