With Eagles looming on 2025 schedule, Broncos and entire AFC West voted to ban ‘Tush Push’

The Denver Broncos — along with most of the NFL — voted to ban the “Tush Push,” the short-yardage play that became a hallmark of the Philadelphia Eagles’ success in recent years.

But a three-quarters majority of votes from team owners was required to outlaw the play.

Denver controlling owner Greg Penner was among the 22-team majority, but two more votes were needed, and the resolution failed.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the list of teams that voted to keep the play in the league:

Jacksonville Jaguars
Miami Dolphins
New England Patriots
New Orleans Saints
New York Jets
Philadelphia Eagles
Tennessee Titans

Seven of the nine teams who sided with the Eagles are AFC clubs, which went 9-7 against them. That’s relevant.

After all, they don’t see the play as often as NFC foes, which broke 13-2 against Philadelphia.

Only one group of AFC teams were against the “Tush Push.”

BRONCOS JOINED BY REST OF AFC WEST IN VOTING AGAINST EAGLES’ ‘TUSH PUSH’

It probably isn’t a coincidence that the Broncos and their AFC West contemporaries all voted for the Green Bay Packers’ proposal to ban the play.

That’s because they’ll get a first-hand chance to face it this season, as the AFC West is paired with the NFC East in interconference play. Denver faces Philadelphia at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 5.

Each of Philadelphia’s NFC East contemporaries also voted in favor of Green Bay’s proposal. All told, every opponent on the Eagles’ 2025 schedule but one — Detroit — voted to ban the play.
