Demaryius Thomas pillar unveiled in Broncos Ring of Fame plaza

The Denver Broncos unveiled the pillar of the late, great Demaryius Thomas at their Ring of Fame plaza on Sunday morning.

Thomas, one of the best receivers in franchise history, is being posthumously honored all weekend long. His name will be placed on the facade of Empower Field at Mile High during halftime of the Broncos-Giants game, as he officially enters the team’s Ring of Fame forever.

This is the culmination of alumni weekend in which the Broncos are honoring the 10-year anniversary of the Super Bowl 50 championship team — one Demaryius Thomas played a huge part in. He died way too young in December of 2021 due to a seizure and other medical issues.

The legendary wide receiver is second in Broncos history in both receiving yards and touchdowns and is Denver’s leader for most yards in one season and one game. He is survived by his parents, Katina Smith and Bobby Thomas, who were both at the pillar ceremony.

There’s no doubt Demaryius Thomas is incredibly missed in Broncos Country. Fans being able to visit the pillar and see his name on the inside of the stadium are reminders of his greatness as well as the legacy he left.

The Broncos also put his No. 88 on the practice field all week as well as on the sideline of Empower Field at Mile High for Sunday’s game.
